Haus Elisabeth

Hospitality for over 30 years

In the 1980s, Elisabeth's parents had the opportunity to buy the ageing "Haus Rochus". Another ten years later, the building was demolished  and reopened as a house facilitating six individual apartments. We have been renting out our apartments to guests from all over the world since 1993!

Obergurgl: a unique destination in the Alps

At 1930 metres, Obergurgl is the highest church village in Europe - and is one of the most snow-sure places in the Alps. You can ski here from November to April! The first drag lift was built in Obergurgl back in 1949. In the 1960s, the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road was added and more and more hotels opened. Today, Obergurgl with its many three-thousand metre peaks is a popular retreat in the Alps: in winter for skiing, tobogganing and snowshoeing, in summer for trail running, climbing and high alpine hikes.

Why stay at Haus Elisabeth?

Central and yet quiet

Our apartment house scores with its great location in Gurgl - central yet quiet! Just a few minutes' walk from the village centre, between the ski lift and the Zirbenwald nature reserve. While in winter you can ski right up to the front door, in summer you can start your hike right outside Haus Elisabeth!

Tips from the hostess

Elisabeth's personal recommendations

Host Elisabeth is not only a native of Gurgl, but also a passionate skier and mountaineer. Here she recommends her favourite places in her homeland:

Hohe Mut – the view of the mountains and glaciers never ceases to fascinate me!

Gaisbergtal – one of the most beautiful high valleys in our region, with Hochfirst, Liebenerspitze and the Kirchenkogel with its crystal wall.

Naturdenkmal Zirbenwald – it smells so good here in summer!

Ramolhaus-Piccardbrücke-Langtalereckhütte-Schönwieshütte – a challenging full-day hike that is well worth it!

Rote 12 & Schwarze 11 – my favourite slopes when I'm not on touring skis.
